Keystone First scores third consecutive award for quality multicultural health care.
Keystone First, southeastern Pennsylvania’s largest Medical Assistance managed care product, recently announced that it has received the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Multicultural Health Care Distinction for the third consecutive year.
As one of only eight Medicaid plans in the U.S. to have achieved this record, Blue Cross Medical Assistance affiliate Keystone First was honored for its role in serving diverse populations sensitively. Keystone First staffers communicate with patients in over 70 different languages, providing prenatal education and additional customized programs according to patient needs.
“Earning Multicultural Health Care Distinction shows that an organization is making a breakthrough in providing excellent health care to diverse populations,” NCQA President Margaret O’Kane said. “I congratulate any organization that achieves this level of distinction. Eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in health care is essential to improving the quality of care overall.”
The company was first identified as excelling in multicultural health care in 2010. Keystone First is a mission-oriented managed care health product of Independence Blue Cross affiliate Vista Health Plan Inc., which is offered in five counties spanning southeastern Pennsylvania.
“We are dedicated to connecting every member with the quality care they need to stay well and enjoy a better overall quality of life,” Joanne McFall, Keystone First’s market president, said. “This award is a great honor, to be attributed to the hard work of so many who immerse themselves in the community, remove barriers to care and address the unique needs of all the populations we serve.”
