State Rep. Dave Reed   The Office of State Rep. Dave Reed

State Rep. Dave Reed recently shared details of the $534,169 in revenue generated by Act 13 impact fees last year that will be returned to Indiana County.

The impact fee imposed on the Marcellus Shale industry was created in 2012.

Reed, who is the State House Majority Leader, pointed out that to date approximately $850 million has been procured for jurisdictions across the state, including approximately $3 million for Indiana County.

Indiana County will receive $246,000 in 2014 payouts, Reed said, with the county's townships divvying up more than $288,000. Among the local jurisdictions slated to receive the highest impact fee revenues are Center, Cherryhill, Green, North Mahoning and White.

“Funds from the impact fee are put to work in our communities, fixing and maintaining roads and bridges,” Reed said. “This funding is also used for social service programs and the protection of clean drinking water, which is perhaps our most important resource.”
