State Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) has been selected to continue to serve as chairman of the House Insurance Committee.
Pickett held the post for most of the previous legislative session. The committee works to see that the state’s insurance laws are fairly protecting Pennsylvania’s consumers.
“I am pleased to have been chosen to continue my service with the House Insurance Committee, and I look forward to working on many of the ongoing issues we addressed last session,” Pickett said. “Insurance is often extremely complex but necessary in today’s world, and that is why it is critical to ensure we have the right laws in place. I am excited to continue examining many of the issues we studied last session and to work on ways to ensure this industry is operating at the highest levels of integrity.”
The most recent legislative session saw the House Insurance Committee focus on the insurance ramifications of experimental ride-sharing operations like Uber and Lyft, as well as extending the Children’s Health Insurance Program and making auto insurance and homeowner insurance customer transfers between corporate affiliates simpler.
Pickett's selection was announced by Speaker-Designate of the House Mike Turzai on Monday.
Pickett has served the 110th District since 2001. Pickett has served as chairman of the House Gaming Oversight Committee and has served on several House committees, including Transportation, Consumer Affairs, Transportation, Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
