Pennsylvania Gov.-elect Tom Wolf recently named his full Budget Deficit and Fiscal Stabilization Task Force.
The group will address the looming budget deficit as Wolf enters office in January facing cash flow projections that show the commonwealth will be in the red from January through March.
Former Secretary of the Budget Mary Soderberg and Montgomery County Commission Chairman Josh Shapiro will head the task force.
"Pennsylvania is facing challenging economic times, a multi-billion dollar budget deficit and negative cash flow projections," Wolf said. "My Budget Deficit and Fiscal Stabilization Task Force will get to work to determine the scope of the challenges facing Pennsylvania and begin to discuss how we can get Pennsylvania's fiscal house in order."
Other members of the Task Force include Clay Armbrister, Girard College president; Rick Bloomingdale, Pennsylvania AFL-CIO president; Ida Castro, president of the board of directors for the Employment Opportunity & Training Center of NEPA; Dennis Davin, director of Allegheny County Economic Development; Michael Newsome, executive vice president and chief financial officer at the Wolf Organization; Bill Schenck, founder of TriState Capital Bank; Dr. Glenn D. Steele Jr., president and CEO of Geisinger Health System; Larry Stern, former CEO at Talecris Biotherapeutics; Robin Weissmann, former state treasurer ; David Yarkin, president of Government Sourcing Solutions; and Janet Yeomans, independent trustee of Delaware Group Income Funds - Delaware Extended Duration Bond Fund, and Delaware Enhanced Global Dividend and Income Fund.
