Manufacturers, retailers, agricultural businesses and other small businesses are invited to apply for Small Business Advantage Grant funds from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for projects related to pollution prevention and energy efficiency.
The grants are intended for projects that include auxiliary power units for anti-idling technology in trucks, HVAC and boiler upgrades, high-efficiency lighting, solvent recovery systems and waste recycling systems. The projects must save the company one quarter of its expenses related to energy consumption or pollution, as well as a minimum of $500 a year.
Applicants can request up to 50 percent matching funds – limited to $9,500 – to fund projects. Costs from Oct. 6, 2014, to June 30, 2015, are eligible for funding.
The grants are funded by the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act, which is supported by the Capital Stock and Franchise Tax and the Act 13 Impact Fee.
The deadline to apply is April 15.
Applications are available online at here. They can also be mailed to the Department of Environmental Protection’s Grants Center, P.O. Box 8776, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8776 or hand delivered to the Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market St., 15th Floor, Harrisburg.
