Gov. Tom Corbett announced on Tuesday that JobGateway, the state's website that matches available jobs to qualified individuals in need of employment, has reached 250,000 available job postings.
"This record number of available jobs on JobGateway, in addition to a nearly five-year-low unemployment rate and the creation of more than 175,000 private sector jobs demonstrates an economy and state on the move," Corbett said. "The resources on JobGateway combined with our workforce training initiatives have the goals of preparing Pennsylvania's workforce for the jobs that are available and providing jobs and workplace opportunities for all Pennsylvanians."
JobGateway offers a slew of free tools to help job seekers and employers reach one another. The site also provides interest assessments, resume-building tools and mock job interviews.
"I encourage all who are looking for a job to visit the site and explore the thousands of opportunities," Labor and Industry Secretary Julia Hearthway said. "JobGateway assists those looking for work by effectively consolidating available jobs by region and type of occupation."
Analytics for JobGateway show that the top five occupational groups posted on the site are sales and related occupations, office and administrative support, transportation and material moving occupations, production occupations, health care practitioners and technical occupations.
