Water treatment expert appointed to DEP advisory committee

Jon Prawdzik, a long-time compliance regulator for the Pennsylvania American Water Company, was named to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Certification Program Advisory Committee on Sept. 23.

As part of his three-year term on the advisory panel, Prawdzik will provide input to the agency on draft regulations and guidance documents pertaining to operator certification programs. 

A 16-year employee of Pennsylvania American Water, Prawdzik is an expert in an array of water treatment methods and has a deep familiarity with regulations and compliance issues. In his most recent position as water quality and environmental compliance manager, Prawdzik was responsible for overseeing all of south-central and southeast Pennsylvania, a coverage area that included 19 public water systems. As an advisor and overseer, Prawdzik regulated quality and treatment procedures throughout public water systems.

Prawdzik has a Bachelor of Science degree from East Stroudsburg University, with a focus on environmental studies. He is a member of the American Water Works Association, and is certified as both a Class A and E water systems operator.

Prawdzik currently lives in Dillsburg.
