The Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry will host a bus tour on Sept. 30 to Northeast Pennsylvania for a lesson on the natural gas that exists in the Marcellus Shale and its impact on the state.
Business leaders participating in the tour will learn how gas is discovered, how drills extract the gas and how the gas is moved from the drilling operations to customers. As part of the tour, they will see well-pads where the extraction process begins, and demonstrations of how the gas is discovered and drilled.
Hosted by Cabot Oil & Gas, the tour also will include a discussion on fracking and how the industry impacts Pennsylvania, as well as a networking event with area business leaders in the natural gas industry.
Special guests will include Rob Powelson, the public utilities commission chairman for the state, and Patrick Henderson, the governor's deputy chief of staff and energy executive.
Tickets for the day tour cost $40 for chamber members and $60 for nonmembers. They must be purchased in advance.
