Pennsylvania American Water expands footprint with acquisition of five additional systems

Pennsylvania American Water closed acquisitions in Clarion, Northumberland and Butler counties, comprising five municipal and privately owned water and wastewater systems, for a purchase price of approximately $3.8 million, the utility announced Thursday in Hershey.

Pennsylvania American Water said last week that new water-main work has begun in West Norriton Township to boost service reliability and fire protection, with three sections of pipe dating to the 1950s scheduled for replacement. Workers, who will be operating between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays, will replace pipe sections in the areas of Carey Lane between Hemlock Road and Brandon Road, Keswick Lane between Carey Lane and School Lane; and Virginia Lane between Carey Lane and School Lane.
