PTAC aids Nesquehoning’s Hydra-Tech Pumps in marketing directly to GSA

Successfully slicing through layers of red tape, Whittco, Inc., which does business as Hydra-Tech Pumps in Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania, recently was authorized to list its products directly on the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule, allowing government agencies direct purchasing access.

The veteran-owned company, developing and marketing hydraulic submersible pumps and associated products since 1977, worked closely with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) to streamline the process culminating in the successful development, aided by U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA).

“To be listed on the GSA schedule allows the company to enter new markets – a success for the 16 employees,” Bob Morgan, Cartwright’s district director, said.

Having worked closely with the company since 2008, the NEPA Alliance’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) team was able to help the firm overcome barriers to efficiency through eliminating a traditional and cumbersome formal solicitation process.

“We appreciate the help we received from NEPA Alliance and Congressman Cartwright’s staff, which created a good opportunity for Hydra-Tech,” Andy Falco, vice president of manufacturing at Hydra-Tech Pumps, said.

Hydra-Tech Pumps continues to develop new products to keep abreast of ever-changing market needs. Its pumps are designed to cover a broad variety of uses in the construction business, municipal and utilities sectors, and petrochemical, mining and marine enterprises.
