The findings of a recent study of the health market in Perry County will be presented during the Perry County Health Summit from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Friday at the courthouse in New Bloomfield.

Led by Perry County Commissioner Brenda Benner, a team of nonprofit leaders, health care professionals and concerned citizens formed the Perry County Health Coalition to address residents' health needs in the county, including improving medical services for residents.

Working with teams from Shippensburg University and Dickinson College, the coalition conducted focus groups, geographic mapping and interviews with more  than 550 residents and health professionals.

“The Perry County Health Coalition was formed to improve health conditions for people living in Perry County, especially high risk individuals and families,” Doris Ditzler, senior director of grants at the Partnership for Better Health. “The findings of the new market analysis offer a clear path forward and support our continuing efforts to improve access to affordable health services.”

Several groups helped fund the health market analysis including the Partnership for Better Health, Carlisle Regional Medical Center, Highmark Blue Shield, United Way of the Capital Region and Holy Spirit – A Geisinger Affiliate.
