Customers Bank executive named 'Admired CEO' by business journal

Jay Sidhu, CEO and chairman of Customers Bancorp, Inc. and Customers Bank, was selected as a 2014 Most Admired CEO recipient by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Sidhu, along with other award recipients, was recognized on Tuesday at Vie, a Cescaphe Event Group Venue in Philadelphia.

"I am honored to have received this award," Sidhu said. "I am also blessed to have colleagues and staff who have helped me shape Customers Bank into a company that adheres to our vision of customer service and growth. They have my utmost gratitude and admiration."

Sidhu joined Customers Bank in 2009 when it was known as New Century Bank. The bank was worth about $250 million, but today it has about $6.5 billion in assets, and operates from Boston to Washington, D.C.

Prior to joining Customers Bank, Sidhu was chairman and CEO of Sidhu Advisors, LLC, a private equity and financial consulting company based in Palm Coast, Fla. And Reading, Pa.

Sidhu also helped establish the Jay Sidhu School of Business and Leadership at his alma mater Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, Pa.

The 2014 Most Admired CEO event and honored approximately 50 executives in the region.
