Day & Zimmermann, a family owned, global construction and engineering firm based in Philadelphia, was recently awarded a lengthy contract for services in Phoenix.
The three-year contract begins in January 2015. It obligates Day & Zimmermann’s Engineering, Construction & Maintenance group to provide support to the Palo Verde Nuclear Generation Station, the largest power plant in the United States.
“We anticipate a strong, mutually beneficial relationship with Day & Zimmermann that will serve to continue to improve our processes, reduce our costs, and strategically position us to safely and efficiently generate electricity for the long term," Bob Bement, senior vice president for Operations at Palo Verde, said.
Day & Zimmerman has already started moving machines and manpower to Phoenix in preparation for the start date.
"This is a significant contract for Day & Zimmermann," Guy Starr, president of DZ Atlantic, said. "We are excited about expanding our partnership with (the Arizona Public Service Company) to enhance value for Palo Verde and to provide more opportunities for Day & Zimmermann and its employees."
The 100-year-old company provides engineering, construction, defense and staffing for governments and businesses worldwide.
Engineering News-Record recently named Day & Zimmermann as the No. 1 maintenance contractor in the country.
