Wayne County Public Library recently received a $2,500 donation from First National Community Bank (FNCB) to help fund programs for K-12 students.

The donation was made through the Education Improvement Tax Credit program and will be used to fund educational programs for students in the Western Wayne, Wayne Highlands and Wallenpaupack-area school districts.

Mary Fritz, outreach coordinator for the Wayne County Library System, said the donation allows the library to continue providing programs to students such as Tutor.com, the Learning Express Library, Teen Health and Wellness, Digital Literacy and Financial Literacy. Students with a library card can use all of these resources at no cost, Fritz said.

“Thanks to donations from generous organizations like FNCB, partnerships between schools and libraries have grown stronger, allowing both to do more to improve the academic experiences of students in Wayne County,” Library Director Tracy Schwarz said.

FNCB Vice President and Retail Banking Sales Manager Richard Drust presented the check to Fritz and Schwarz recently at the library.

The donation is part of the bank's Community Caring Initiative.
