Dauphin County’s Fort Hunter Park to hold holiday activities

Dauphin County is offering a series of holiday activities at Fort Hunter Park through Dec. 23.

The events are appropriate for all ages.

The yearly Festival of Trees continues through Dec. 21. The Civic Garden Center of Harrisburg and local garden clubs are responsible for decorating the trees, which are on display from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. daily at the Tavern. Visitors can vote for their favorite tree and purchase handmade ornaments. 

The Kids Only Holiday Shop is open to children 12 and younger at the Hunter Centennial Barn through Dec. 14. Hours are 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. All products for sale cost $10 or less, with free gift wrapping included. Profits benefit the Friends of Fort Hunter.

The Keystone Model Railroad Historical Society hosts a free Toy Train Exhibit at the Fort Hunter Centennial Barn from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 21. The train routes change each weekend.

The Civic Committee of the Garden Club of Harrisburg will be offering guided tours of the Fort Hunter Mansion, which will be decorated for a Victorian Christmas. Tours are available from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, Dec. 2-23.
